Aln Estuary, United Kingdom
Aln Estuary is a small area (0.39km2) located next to the town of Alnmouth, on the Northumberland Coast. The estuary is a vital link between the land and sea.
The key habitats here are intertidal mud, saltmarshes and sheltered muddy gravels.
Because of the saltmarsh and saline reedbed habitat at Aln Estuary, it makes it suitable for many different migrating and wintering birds. It attracts species such as redshanks, snipe, wigeons, curlews, dunlins and gulls.
