Puerto Pollensa (also known as Port de Pollença) is a beautiful town with a wealth of culture and activities. Well known not only for its bird watching, with the Boquer Valley and Albufera marshes close by, but also for water sports, boat trips and cycling. The resort is very popular during early winter and throughout the peak season family holiday period. The main square in the town holds an outdoor market every Wednesday visited by both locals and tourists alike. If you want to explore more you have the lovely old town of Pollenca and its quaint character only a ten minute bus journey away and you are also ideally situated if you have a hire car to explore the amazing Serra de Tramuntana with its spectacular scenery in addition to the many birds of prey such as Black and Griffon vultures as well as the relatively common Booted eagle.
There are numerous bars and restaurants in Puerto Pollensa catering for all tastes located on the seafront, the town square and many of the back streets. The bars situated at the top end of the main square offer great value and a relaxing atmosphere in which to sit and watch the world go by and are very popular with the locals especially for tapas and snacks. In the old town there is a totally different atmosphere which is very laid back and you can visit the many museums , churches boutique shops in addition to the great choice of restaurants and cafes. The main square is surrounded great bars and on a sunny day it is a great way to spend an afternoon. The travel around the port especially local buses run by TIB and the taxis is superb, The bus station is new and has been moved from the island next to the sea front to the top of the main roadnear to the main roundabouts.
